Rose Wine

Hi everyone! Are you a wine person? How about some Rose Wine? Recently I have tried some great Rose Wine and I decided to share with all my friends. The best traditional Rose Wines come from Europe and especially from South of France. Rose Wine is very suitable to drink during the summer months. Its style, traditional dry, light and refreshing on a hot day. That is why, Rose Wine is also known as, “Summertime Wines”.

Let’s review my choice of Rose Wine for this season.

 Lil Rippa Waipara Glasnevin Gravels Rose 2011 – its a relatively dark color as to compare with the normal Rose Wine. It is like a summer salad of rich juicy red berry fruits. It’s not too sweet and its well balance as well. An ideal to match with a cold lunch of glazed ham with some chickpea salad bowl.

Hawkes Bay Rose, Trinity Hill 2011 – originally from New Zealand. Comes with a beautiful warm pink color. Full with red-currants, cranberries and strawberries. Hawkes Bay Rose give a fresh, smooth and ligh texture. Great for ladies who are looking for low alcoholic Rose Wine or maybe pair with some grilled salmon, Asian food style over the lunch hour?

Planeta Rose Sicilia, Planeta 2011 – this wine is light, fresh but full with notes on rose petals, strawberries and pomegranate. It can be pair with light pasta dishes or even with some fruits. Even mixed well with potato salad, fresh cheese and sushi. It’s originally from Italy.

Sancerre Rose, Vincent Pinard 2011 – this wine is from France. So expect to be a bit dry but its full with flavors of crushed strawberries. A small sip you can feel it’s freshness. To enjoy the fullness of Sancerre Rose Wine, just drink on its own.

There are various brand and flavors of Rose Wine in different countries. I am still looking and exploring for new wines with my close friends. If you have any good recommendations do share it with me. I will be more happy to heard it from you. In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy these Rose Wines recommendations.

Down to Some Private Kitchen Dinning

Hi everyone! How are you today? Do you ever get tired over some fast food restaurant, cafe, fancy restaurant or even with the hotdog stand outside your office building? How about trying some private kitchen dinning? Still hasn’t got a clue on where?

Huck’s Cafe! This underground home cafe is stuck in between some housing and apartment area. But their food are simple delicious. The double story house is decorated based on the Balinese theme that makes you feel warm and cozy together with a man made fish pond that even relaxes your clouded mind. Sounds too good to be true?

So, what so special about this Huck’s Private Kitchen? The Chef will be offering various menus for you to choose from. However these menus will be constantly changing from month to month. In another words, the Chef will decide certain menus for his customers. Let’s take a pip on what are the top dishes he has to offer. Start with soup, appetizer and salad.

Pumpkin Soup – with fresh pumpkin, carrot and onions

Eden Salad – served with edible herbs flower, wild rocket, lettuce, carrots, purple cabbage with lemon sauce

Nemo Salad – served with mango, carrots, wild rocket, lettuce with lemon sauce

Daun Kedok Coconut – served with coconut, daun kedok, shallots, dried prawns, peanuts, chili and kantang flowers. A truly traditional Asian appetizer

Just the soup, appetizer and salad is tempting enough what more to say on the main course and desserts. As for the main course, I shall review only the top dishes among all of the Chef creations. They are:-

Lemon Roast Chicken – served with whole bird with roasted potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and herbs

Baked Fish – served with coated oat and cheese with creamy pasta

Rolling in Drip – served with two beef steaks, button mushroom and cheese

Racing Bull – served with stew beef, onions, carrots, potatoes, bay leaves with red wine

Finally, we are presenting you with the dessert menu for tonight. We have,

Love Creme Brulee

Durian Mud Pie Ice Cream – top with cashew nuts and rich chocolate sauce on durian ice cream (seasonal item)

Bird Nest – top with toffee, chocolate cookies with vanilla and chocolate ice cream

Rocky Road – served with cashew nuts, bitter chocolates with toffee

Head down to Huck’s Cafe and tried these wonderful dishes. Remember, advance reservation is required as the seats are limited. There are two location for you to choose from.

Pancakes For Breakfast!

Hi everyone! Good morning Monday. Had your great breakfast this morning? Why not tried some home – made pancakes? Delicious. Well, recently I have made some pancakes over the weekends and the are just perfect for the lovely Sunday morning. So, let’s start cooking some pancakes shall we?

Ingredients: –  

1 3/4 all purpose flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 egg slightly beaten, 1 1/2 cup milk (optional), 3 tablespoons cooking oil,

Toppings: –

Desired fruit (apple, frozen blueberries, peach), syrup (optional)

Cooking Method: –  

1. In a large bowl stir in flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

2. In another small bowl, used a fork to combine egg, milk and oil.

3. Add in the egg mixture all at once to the flour mixture. Stir until well mixed (batter should be slightly lumpy). If desired you may add in your desired fruits.

4. Heat up the frying pan. Pour about 1/4 cup batter into it to get a standard size pancake. But if you wish to have a dollar size pancakes, used about 1 tablespoon batter.

5. Cook over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Make sure both side the edges are slightly dry. Served warm.

6. If desired served with syrup and fruits too.

You can always make different types of pancakes and have fun too! If you wish to have a more healthier pancakes tried the whole wheat pancakes. You may substitute with whole wheat flour and brown sugar.
